Senior Survey: Please remind your graduating seniors to complete the TU Graduating Senior Survey. Each soon-to-be graduate was emailed the link, but they can also access the survey directly at http://studentvoice.com/tu/gradseniors2013. The results of the survey (including college-level data) will be made available a IR's website.
Job Search Boot Camp: For December grads who are still looking for post-graduation employment, we encourage their participation in our Job Search Boot Camp on January 17th. This half-day program aimed at new grads will give students everything they need to know about successfully finding a job (mock interviews with employers, resume reviews, LinkedIn profile photo, job search strategies, etc.). More details can be found in students' Hire@TU accounts under the "Career Events" tab, as well as on our calendar of events at http://www.towson.edu/careercenter/calendar.asp.
Career Center Satellite Hours: I'm working on scheduling my Satellite Hours in Smith Hall for the spring semester (tentatively the second Tuesday of each month). Once the schedule is finalized, I'll send details and flyers your way.

Overview
The Materials Science Ph.D. and M.S. programs have been active since 1981. They are interdisciplinary programs spanning condensed matter physics, chemistry of materials, electrical, nano-mechanical, and bio-polymer engineering. We are particularly looking for students with a strong foundation in fields such as Physics and Materials Science who are interested in pursuing basic research, including experimental, computational, and theoretical studies. Our recent alumni have been very successful, having pursued postdoctoral positions at top research universities and national laboratories and faculty positions in academia. Several have pursued careers in industry in sectors such as semiconductors, micro mechanical devices and polymers, including as president of a venture-capital funded MEMS startup company.
The 18 participating faculty are funded by DOE, NSF, NASA, and DOD. Several are NSF CAREER awardees. They frequently publish in high impact journals in Materials Science and related fields.

M.S. program in Applied Physics at Northern Arizona University
Please forward this flyer on to your undergraduate students, and consider encouraging them to apply to our master's program in Applied Physics. We have a fairly unique program in that we provide funding (as teaching assistants) for virtually all of our master's students. Recently we revamped our program, and we now emphasize skills rather than the standard graduate physics curriculum. Our students have been successful both in finding jobs and in going on to Ph.D. programs. The faculty is very supportive of our students, and we are proud of our program and of the camaraderie that our department enjoys.
