General Meeting This Friday!

Hey guys,

Last weeks meeting had very little turn out so we changed the time and we want to see everyone this Friday the 22nd in Smith Hall, room 446 for our next general meeting at 11:00 am. We have to plan numerous events this semester and we need everyone to get involved, so invite your friends and come buy T-Shirts! SPS General Meetings Spring 2013

Welcome back to Towson, hope everyone is enjoying their classes. SPS has decided to hold their general meetings every other Monday at 4 PM starting this Monday, February 11th in room 400. We have events to plan so please try and make it this Monday! PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The NASA Academy Application deadline is January 28.  Apply now at http://www.AcademyApp.com.

The Academies are intensive educational programs which emphasize group activities, teamwork, research, leadership and creativity. The curriculum balances direct contact with science and engineering R&D with an awareness of the managerial, political, financial, social and human issues faced by aerospace professionals. Included are seminars, informal discussions, evening lectures, supervised research, visits to other NASA Centers and facilities, group project/s, tours, posters/presentations, and assessment. Additionally, most weekends are filled with group activities, team building and off-site trips. One free weekend is scheduled.

The Academy is not a 9-5 summer research internship program. It is a rigorous, immersive experience that will challenge you and push you outside of your comfort zones. It offers participants an intense learning experience that is either Space- or Aeronautics-based. All academy students will be immersed in a NASA environment where they will experience the agency from both inside and outside perspectives. Additionally, added interaction with NASA collaborators in industry and academia will provide unique, exciting and unforgettable summer experience designed to engage and capture students within the NASA family.

The Academies have separate focus areas: Space/Aerospace (NASA Academy), Robotics, Aeronautics, and Propulsion.

1.  We plan to offer a summer research program for undergraduate students (June 3 - July 26, 2013), and I hope you can share this information with students and encourage them to consider applying for it.  The web page is:

It may still contain last year's information at the moment, but should be updated very soon to invite new applicants for 2013.  The application deadline will be mid-March, similar to last year's.  Please note that U.S. citizenship is not required for this program.
