Subject: RE: Summer Research at Hampton University - Department of Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences

1.  We plan to offer a summer research program for undergraduate students (June 3 - July 26, 2013), and I hope you can share this information with students and encourage them to consider applying for it.  The web page is:

http://cure.hamptonu.edu/

It may still contain last year's information at the moment, but should be updated very soon to invite new applicants for 2013.  The application deadline will be mid-March, similar to last year's.  Please note that U.S. citizenship is not required for this program.

2.  Of course, we're always seeking promising graduate school candidates who want to learn more about atmospheric and planetary science.  We maintain a couple of websites, one devoted primarily to the academic department:

http://science.hamptonu.edu/aps/

And one (also about to be overhauled) devoted to our research projects:

http://cas.hamptonu.edu/

The summer program has been our best recruiting tool (students get to know us + we get to know them), but I want to make sure that students at quality programs know that we exist, however I can reach them.  So if you have seminar openings in the future, please let me know - I or one of my colleagues might be able to visit and talk about both the summer and graduate programs.

Thanks a lot, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Rob Loughman

Chairman, Department of Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences

Hampton University
