Dear SPS Advisor,

We are soliciting applications for the Idaho State University Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Summer Program in Nuclear Physics, Radiobiology, Chemistry, Anthropology, and Nuclear Engineering.  This NSF-sponsored program immerses undergraduate students in active research projects where each student is engaged in hands-on research from a variety of areas in Nuclear Science.   For 10 weeks, these students will be partnered with faculty and graduate students from the Idaho Accelerator Center, the Departments of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Anthropology, and Nuclear Engineering at Idaho State University.  If convenient, please forward this announcement to your colleagues and students in these areas.  The program encompasses a lecture series on advanced topics in physics as well as participant presentations.  A stipend of $4840, room and board, travel reimbursement, and $250 to support travel to a professional science conference during the year following the REU experience are provided.  Participants will enjoy the chance to explore the natural playground found in and around Pocatello, Idaho, which is located in Eastern Idaho not far from both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.  Organized activities for REU students include whitewater rafting, camping, and hiking.   If you know of any promising students who could benefit from a summer of applied nuclear research, please inform them of our program or forward this email and attached poster to them.  We especially welcome applications from women and students from minority groups.  More information, application materials, and a higher resolution copy of our poster are available at http://www.physics.isu.edu/internships/reu.html.

Thank you for your time and consideration.      -Steve
